Standards:
Second Grade ELA Reading: Literature Standard 1: Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
Ed Tech Standard 6: Use telecommunications efficiently and effectively to access remote information and communicate with others in support of direct and independent learning and for pursuit of personal interests.
ISTE Standard Empowered Learner: I use technology to set goals, work toward achieving them and demonstrate my learning.
Conclusion:
I chose Audacity for my podcast tool because I have seen it and it is already installed on a computer that I can access. Audacity looks really complicated when you initially open it up because there are a lot of random numbers and symbols that look confusing. But it was pretty simple to learn how to use. You click record to start and you can pause when ever you need to think over what you want to say. I personally don't like podcasts because I think it is hard way to learn if you can only hear and not see something. That's why I would use this tool for something like reading a book! When using it this way I could record what ever material I wanted read, and then I could play it in class and still use visuals (like the book). I would want students to listen, watch, and follow along as they talk with others to help them understand what the book is about.
Overall I think the tool was easy to use, but I would only use this tool if I could pair it with some sort of visual aid to help students of all learning types better comprehend.
