Health Ed: Answer Garden

Standards
Third Grade Health Education Core Standard 1: The students will learn ways to improve mental health and manage stress.

Ed Tech Standard 6: Uses telecommunication efficiently and effectively to access remote information and communicate with others in support of direct and independent learning and for pursuit of personal interest.

ISTE Standard Creative Communicator: I communicate effectively and express myself creatively using different tools, styles, formats and digital media.

Reflection: I think that Answer Garden could be a very useful tool in the classroom to hear student responses. I love how answer garden is so easy to set up! It doesn't require an email and has a password so you can easily check the status as an admin. The  best part about it is that it takes less than a few minutes to set up. I shared the link with my extended family and asked them to respond. I had all my answers with in a matter of seconds! I love how fast it is! I think that the only down side is that I would want to see what student submitted what response to asses their progress. In my classroom I would use this tool for feedback from students as well as for class open discussion. I would have my students pull out their smart devices to answer or we could use a class computer set.

Seasons: Thinglink

Standards
Sixth Grade Science Core Standard 2: Students will understand how Earth's tilt on its axis changes the length of daylight and creates the seasons.

Ed Tech Standard 5: Use technology tools for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities to create knowledge products for audiences inside and outside the classroom.

ISTE Standard Global Collaborator: I strive to broaden my perspective, understand others and work effectively in teams using digital tools.

Reflection: Thinglink was an interesting tool for me to use. I personally struggled getting the software to do what I wanted it to. I also found it very time consuming to get the link and information I wanted on the page. However I absolute love the interactive side it provides. They can see the picture, read about it, and also watch a video, all in one page! I do love how it looks and the learning it could provide for students. In my classroom I would use it for a collaborative project for kids to work on together to understand why we have seasons and what they look like! Overall I think this tool is fun and an interactive way to have students learn.

Reflection: I think google docs is a tool that can be used for just about anything. It can be used for collaborative writing and group projects. It offers the chance to have multiple people working on the same document at the same time. It can be great for collaborative work as well as individual writing, tests, or quizzes. I found it rather easy to use and easy to share with others. I love the fact that you can share it with who you choose and they can access and change the document when needed. Google docs is a great way for students to demonstrate what they know and what they have been learning. While exploring the tool I found it nearly impossible to find something negative about google docs. The way I would used this tool in my own classroom would be to have students use them for group collaborative projects and occasionally use it for tests or quizzes. Overall I enjoyed learning a little bit more about google docs and the different ways I could use it in my future classroom.
